Students say...

"During this time I've been going to English class I've learned so much. Thank you so much to the people at the Center for New Americans! They are very special, work as a team, and they are like a family for all of us."

Greenfield English Classes: If you want to join an English class call (413) 772-0055

Enrollment information: Students are given a Basic English Skills Test Plus (BEST Plus) in order to be placed in class at the right level. First priority for class enrollment is given to those immigrants who intend to live and work permanently in the United States. Other people who want to enroll will be placed on the waiting list. People on the waiting list may be placed in class if space remains after all immigrants have been enrolled. For the following cycle, priority will again be given to immigrants on the list.

Policies:

Attendance: It is necessary to attend 80% of your class hours. If you miss more than 20% of your class hours, you may lose your place to another student. All students must show respect for teachers and other students and behave in ways that make the classroom a good place to learn.

You must let your teacher know if you cannot come to class. Call your teacher or the office at (413) 587-0084

Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones may not be on during class or lab time. In special cases, exceptions can be made by talking to your teacher. At such times, the phone must be set on "vibrate."

Snow Days: Listen to the local radio and television stations to find out if schools are closed or opening late because of bad weather. If the public schools are closed in a town because of bad weather, then there will be no CNA classes in that town and the office in that town will be closed.

Sometimes schools open late (1-hour delay or 2-hour delay) when the weather is bad. Each class will need to plan what to do if schools open late. Teachers and students should decide on a plan at the beginning of the class cycle.

Holiday Schedule: The following days are public holidays in Massachusetts. The Center for New Americans will be closed. There will be no classes.
