Dear Friends, Family, and Fellow Writers: The Center for New Americans provides free English classes and many other services for immigrants and refugees, including career prep and legal assistance. These services are essential for making your way in a new country, and formal language classes are the best way to learn in an intensive and effective way. I am proud that Northampton offers these classes, and I want to support these efforts. I also want to get myself to write more poetry! Please give what you can to help new immigrants.

Center for New Americans has been welcoming and serving immigrants in Western Massachusetts since 1992. We teach free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), digital literacy, civics, U.S. culture. We offer support services including connections to community resources and assistance finding employment. We also offer some immigration legal services, including assistance applying and preparing for U.S. citizenship, assistance with employment authorization and family petitions, and some humanitarian assistance. We rely on a small, dedicated staff, an engaged board of directors, generous volunteers and supporters, and public and private funding. 30 Poems in November! is one of our most important fundraisers every year.
