Education and Resources for Immigrants and Refugees in Western Massachusetts

The Center for New Americans provides educational, legal, and employment resources for people who have recently emigrated to the US to provide opportunities for themselves and their families that were not available to them in their homeland. 30 Poems in November is a fundraising event during which Western Massachusetts poets and their supporters provide funds to make those resources possible. Center for New Americans has been welcoming and serving immigrants in Western Massachusetts since 1992. We teach free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), digital literacy, civics, U.S. culture. We offer support services including connections to community resources and assistance finding employment. We also offer some immigration legal services, including assistance applying and preparing for U.S. citizenship, assistance with employment authorization and family petitions, and some humanitarian assistance. We rely on a small, dedicated staff, an engaged board of directors, generous volunteers and supporters, and public and private funding. 30 Poems in November! is one of our most important fundraisers every year.
