This campaign is important to me because in 1986, I was a single mother with few resources. Navigating social services and accessing legal, educational and career resources was daunting, to say the least, for an English-speaking white person with a home and transportation. I toughed it out and changed my life. I can't imagine how tough it must be to be a newcomer to the U.S. these days.
I'll be posting a poem on this page daily.
11/28 and 11/29
Woodstove
Flames on winter night
Husband shuffles in with wood
To fill the stove, again
Trees
December trees stand
Tall, resolute, on the hill
Soon going indoors.
