30 Poems in November! is a literary fundraiser for Center for New Americans. Center for New Americans welcomes and serves immigrants in Western Massachusetts with free English classes and a range of support services. For more information, please visit: http://www.cnam.org This year, we aim to raise $50,000. Writers do their part by writing one poem each day in November. Friends and family do their part by donating to support this effort. Powerful new poems and financial contributions translate to community support for immigrants.
This is my second time participating in this challenge. My first attempt was at a time when I was writing lots of poetry, so writing a poem a day seemed a cinch. It wasn't! But I was committed, and I did it. It felt wonderful to complete the challenge and earn those pledges for CNA.
This year, when civil rights and human rights and the melting pot called America seem turned inside out and upside down, the work CNA does feels even more critically important. So here I am doing the challenge again. I haven't written much poetry in the last couple years, so I'm out of practice. The challenge doesn't seem a cinch this time. But I will succeed!
Thanks, friends, for pledging your support!
