I don't do a lot of fundraising campaigns. But I believe in this organization's mission, or I wouldn't be working with them on their board. Center for New Americans welcomes and serves immigrants, refugees, migrants, and asylum-seekers in Western Massachusetts. We offer free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), career preparation assistance, support services and immigration legal services. The need for funds to help us continue the work is greater than ever, given the division in the world and across our country. Regardless of election results, you can help me to try to make a difference in my corner of the world.
I've met some of the Center students, and the stories of these hopeful, brave newcomers to our country are inspiring. Some of you know me as a poet, many don't; but this way of helping felt like a very cool fit to me. Can you support as I try to create 30 new poems in November? I'll give this a try if you will!
