Welcome to my fundraising page for Center for New Americans! I am honored to be part of a group of writers who are raising money to support the work of CNA again this year. Often times I hear my self singing " Up On the Roof " by Carol King "When this old world is getting me down", and it reminds me of what is possible in the world. The Center for New Americans (CNA) provides hope and support through adult education to the under-served immigrant, refugee and migrant communities of Massachusetts’ Pioneer Valley with education and resources to learn English, become involved community members and obtain tools necessary to maintain economic independence and stability.

Dear Friends

I am honored to take the deep dive again into my poetry writing practice.   I plan to write a poem a day to raise money for the Center for New Americans.  Poetry fulfills a creative part of me.  Poetry speaks to the ever changing  human condition.

I have seen first hand the work of CNA with a family who arrived from a Burundi Refugee Camp on a cold winter night 6 years ago with their 5 year old son.  Fast forward 6 years: both parents are working full time, their English fluency continues to increase, both have obtained drivers licenses,  become American citizens and they proud owner of their own home.   Their son is 11 years old and a soccer star.

In these times of such uncertainty, I hold the vision of justice and equity for all.  Please join me is helping CNA continue to provide services to individuals who are now our neighbors.
