Hey there!
Welcome to the space where I try to use my words for good reasons.
When everything around you is strange and new, finding that people are on your side is a gift. I want to be part of that gifting in some way, because everyone should have someone in their corner.
When I was 6 years old, I went to live with my parents and, while I certainly valued the security and safety of my strange and new environment, I didn’t always know how to speak up about the challenges found in my new home. I often went for days without saying anything. But I had people on my side. My teachers and parents were so patient, encouraging me to, “ use your words" and eventually my confusion over the strangeness of my new life faded. Fifty-five years later, I‘ve got a few things to say on behalf of fellow strangers.
I was very recently introduced to monostich poetry: evocative poems crafted from a single sentence, and became fascinated. I may or may not have grasped the style; I guess we'll see. Nothing profound is forthcoming, but a good faith effort is guaranteed and a nice turn of phrase is always a possibility.
