I married a woman from another country. Even though she came to the US of her own free will, it is not always easy to feel like one belongs in two places. I can only imagine how much harder it must be for someone who was forced to leave their homeland. Borders may be necessary, but they are also often places where we say goodbye to someone we care about. Please help me support Center for New Americans, which makes landing in a new country easier. 30 Poems in November! is a literary fundraiser for Center for New Americans. Center for New Americans welcomes and serves immigrants in Western Massachusetts with free English classes and a range of support services. For more information, please visit: http://www.cnam.org This year, we aim to raise $50,000. Writers do their part by writing one poem each day in November. Friends and family do their part by donating to support this effort. Powerful new poems and financial contributions translate to community support for immigrants.

For so many Americans immigration is part of our family story. We all carry the weight and the treasure of how we come to be in this place at this moment. Time to live up to how we want to be.
