Hello! I am Gail Thomas,a poet and educator. As a volunteer tutor at the Center for New Americans, I have witnessed first-hand this amazing community of immigrants, teachers and supporters. The adults I have worked with are studying English, practicing for their Citizenship tests and helping their families, often while working one or more jobs. Now, more than ever, we need to bring hope and resources to the families who live and work among us. 30 Poems in November! is a literary fundraiser for Center for New Americans. Center for New Americans welcomes and serves immigrants in Western Massachusetts with free English classes and a range of support services. This year, we aim to raise $50,000. Writers do their part by writing one poem each day in November. Friends and family do their part by donating to support this effort. Powerful new poems and financial contributions translate to community support for immigrants.
