I know a little about the Border. I was for several years the director of an external studies program that took students to the border at San Ysidro, and followed immigrants after they made their journey to communities in the US. At the time, 60% of Mexico lived below the starvation level, which drove immigration north through dangerous desert sometimes led by unscrupulous "Coyotes." Immigration is certain more complex than that but that is my experience, one which I still write poems from.
