This past year, I returned to Cape Verde where I lived for two years 30 years ago, and was welcomed back with love. This experience reinforced my desire to support immigrants coming here. The Center for New Americans (CNA) offers free English, citizenship, and skills training classes, along with immigration legal services. I’m delighted to write poems alongside many other inspiring writers in order to help CNA do its important work. If you donate through my page, I’ll send you poems! This year, I’ll be writing about half the poems from Mexico City, where I’ll be staying with some friends, lucky me. I’ll be honored to share some of these with you.
