17th annual 30 Poems in November! Fall 2025

30 Poems in November! is the literary equivalent of a charity road race. This annual "Poem-a-thon," now in it's 17th year, raises money to support our free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and support services.

We welcome and serve adult immigrants from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Haiti, Venezuela, and more than 30 other countries. We offer free classes and support services in four locations throughout the Connecticut River Valley, morning and evening, to help immigrants build new lives in the U.S.

Nerissa Nields, well-known poet, singer/songwriter and writing group leader, is our Event Chair!

Center for New Americans has been welcoming and serving immigrants in Western Massachusetts since 1992. We teach free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), digital literacy, civics, U.S. culture. We offer support services including connections to community resources and assistance finding employment. We also offer some immigration legal services, including assistance applying and preparing for U.S. citizenship, assistance with employment authorization and family petitions, and some humanitarian assistance. We rely on a small, dedicated staff, an engaged board of directors, generous volunteers and supporters, and public and private funding. 30 Poems in November! is one of our most important fundraisers every year.
