Speaking up for speech

Hi, all: This year, more than any other, I'm thinking about the importance of speech. Free speech, my speech, your speech, all kinds of speech. In whatever beautiful language you embrace. You may know me from last year's 30 poems campaign. The need has not gotten smaller since then, it's grown - and so has the importance of resisting on behalf of the things we stand for. I've learned first hand this year that we really don't know how long we'll have to to express what's inside of us. You may not live in western Massachusetts, but you can help so many beautiful folks here who are working hard to be a part of our community. And they, like you, have something to say. Kathy

The Center for New Americans welcomes and serves immigrants, refugees, migrants, and asylum-seekers in Western Massachusetts. We offer free classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), career preparation assistance, support services and immigration legal services. Center staff work hard, often against all odds, to provide support, teaching, and guidance to those new to our country. I'm writing 30 poems in November to help with this annual fundraiser. Won't you help me?
