Dear friends and family: you have been amazingly generous and loyal for six years now, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Your contribution—whether it's $5, $40 or $200—serves an excellent organization, one that meets immigrants where they are and helps them day-by-day to reach their goals: new language skills, an education, a job, the means to support their family, and the opportunity to give back to the country that welcomed them in a time of need.
Poems of mine inspired by this campaign have been published in Blue Unicorn; War, Literature and the Arts; Sparks of Calliope; and Rattle. In the past year, “Everywhere I Sit I Face the Flag” appeared in Silkworm 18: Cycle, and “Push Mower” was featured in an exhibition and book celebrating resilience produced by the Aplomb Project in Dover, New Hampshire. I am grateful to you for the role you play in making that happen, but I am even more grateful for your support of the remarkable organization that inspires the work.
