Dear Friends,
We’re all looking for ways to help our country and its people. I have been
told about the Center for New Americans, which helps immigrants “acquire the
tools to integrate economically and culturally into the community and become self-
sufficient.” It provides immigration and citizenship sources, English classes, and
other kinds of support in four sites in what’s called the Pioneer Valley in
Massachusetts: Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield, and Springfield.
During the month of November, I and many others are involved in a fundraising
effort that requires us to write a poem every day. I have just completed my tenth
poem and finding the experience therapeutic, salutary, and rewarding.
I would be grateful for contributions at any level and encourage you to think about
writing poems next year.
