“What the World Needs Now Is Love…” and POETRY!
...just as it needed them in 2020 when my first and last book was published. And just as I wrote in its "Dear Reader" endpapers, midst a pandemic and what we thought were the bitter remains of a one-term regime: "In the face of all this, a bunch of poems. An act of groundless hope...with the lowest of expectations. Poems to celebrate family in its mutuality and to examine humanity in its ephemerality. To redirect the mind from distraction towards sanity. To remind the heart of its capacity. Poems that try very hard to speak clearly to everyone I've ever known and loved, most of whom don't read much poetry. Poems that try to please poets, mentors, believers, and deniers. Poems that don't try to please anyone but simply to report. To remind. To record."
If you decide to sponsor me in this poem-athon, and if you would like to read the poems you have instigated, and if you send me your email address, I will share with you any presentable results! Meanwhile, I look forward to hearing how much we--you and I--have raised for the loving life-support of the CNA.
