What can any of us do to make things better? The Center for New Americans is an organization that makes things better every day for people who come to this country hoping to build a new life. Supporting this fund-raiser helps people in real and practical ways.
I feel fairly powerless most of the time. Well, one thing I can do is sit down each day and pull thoughts out of the air and try to shape them, and by asking others to support this practice, New Americans are supported . . . and THAT feels empowering. This fund-raiser is also community-building. There are a lot of good, empathic, creative people in the Valley, and that goodness and empathy and creativity is palpable when you attend the reading at the end of November . . .
