Welcome to my '30 Poems in November' campaign page. I am a long time supporter of the Center for New Americans. This year, it is especially important to let immigrants and refugees in our community know that we welcome them!
I grew up in a family that made a practice of welcoming immigrants, especially teenagers and yound adults displaced by political events in their home country. My mother made a practice of taking these young people under her wing, giving them a supportive family environment as they started their new life. I am fundraising to honor my mother's legacy and to appreciate the way these peers from around the world still make my life better. Raising money to support the Center for New Americans is a way to pass it on!
