Welcome to 30 Poems in November, a literary fundraiser to benefit Center for New Americans, which provides free English classes, community and job support and legal services to immigrants and refugees in western MA.
I participate in 30 Poems because I think CNA is doing important and effective work, now more than ever, and I want to be part of this effort. Also, though not a "published" writer, I love writing and amuse myself with trying to create a poem a day (often about my dog).
Each one of my supporters gets their own poem. Here is an example:
For an instant
midstride
Josie's nimble body
is air-borne
like a basketball star going in for a lay-up
and in that moment of suspension
she smiles
