Love is Action

Poetry Performance at the New Britain Museum of American Art
When life gets hard, working to make it easier for others is good medicine. Generosity with our love, creativity and our money benefits the giver and the recipient. I will write 30 poems a day in November. By supporting me, you are supporting the Center for New Americans. Will you help me reach my goal and make it OUR goal? We do nothing alone.

The dehumanization of immigrants or of anyone is abhorrent to me. I hope you feel the same. There is certainly something in most of our lives that we are about to purchase that we don't really need - like a tempting treat near checkout? You know the one.  There is a generosity that has been shown to us  - this is an opporunity to reciprocate. There are immigrants we have never met, who labor for our benefit. Maybe the phone or screen from where you're reading this, or the bed on which you sleep - for those of us lucky enough to have one. Let's collectively show our gratitude. Make my modest goal, our goal!  Generosity heals the giver. For the highest giver I will buy a drink, and we'll ask for the ice to be crushed.
