This is a photo of my grandparents, Paul and Ruth Cantor, Russian immigrants who came to this country to escape persecution and establish a better life for themselves and the generations to come. Each year that I particpate in writing 30 poems, I do it in their honor and with inspiration from their courageous journeys. Every year the work of the Center for New Americans becomes more important as our country which once welcomed immigrants like my grandparents, has become a cruel and dangerous place for so many seeking safety and asylum for themselves and their families. As we all know, the services being provided with the support of this fundraiser are more necessary and critical than ever. Please join me in donating to this necessary and worthwhile program. I will be happy to send you some of my 30 poems. Thank you for your support.
