To Serve and Be Served in a Land of Love
I found myself, after reading a story about feeling and sensing the soul of love—I suddenly found myself in a land beyond belief, a place resembling earth, though more like the garden of love and harmony before the fall. There were no inside-outside, artificial national boundaries—they had no words for it, could not even understand or imagine the idea. People were all citizens of their earth, and could freely go live where they wished, And the obsessive, possessive, excessive sense of self and selfish desires had dissolved. Cruel sensuality, and jealousy was unknown. Neighbors wanted the best for their neighbors as if for themselves. Conflict and warfare never entered their consciousness or behavior.
Cooperation had overcome competition in business and politics—the bitter seeds of greed replaced by equality and harmony. And people's needs were supplied by universal love. Happiness spread by caring and sharing. The poisoning of their earth was unheard of, as the energy of the sun, and the wind, supplied their simple needs. Each community sang and voiced thankfulness for their possibility to serve and be served, to love and be loved.
I woke from my dream, the blinders of impossibility, dropping from my mind like a falling star. What a guide for our life if only we could get inside, make the story real instead of a dream.
I am sharing this 1st day's poem in the “30 Poems in November” fund raising drive for the Center for New Americans, and the work they do to welcome new emigrants, help them adjust to their new life, in these dark days. I ask any friends and acquaintances for their donations to this cause, and I will welcome with open arms and gladness, any help you may give in this endeavor..
I give poem inspiration credit to Dostoevsky’s short story, “THE DREAM OF A RIDICULOUS MAN“
