A dear friend gave me a beautiful plaque that sits over my desk with the words of Samuel Becket inscribed on it that read, "All Poetry is Prayer." How appropriate for 30 Poems in November during the year I received a Doctor of Theology degree! This was a long time coming and it helped me to realize some of the barriers our student face in trying to get an education. I always tell them to keep going. They will get there. It isn't a race; it is a journey.
During this 30 Poems Challenge, I will recognize the long and sometimes difficult journey I took to get my degree with poems that could be used as prayers by people of all religions and cultures. There will be prayers for peace, for freedom, for thanksgiving and for the sheer joy of being alive.
My personal prayer is that my family and friends will once again help me make my goal for this challenge. Together, we all make a difference. Let us continue to shine brightly. Let the poeting begin!
