Writing and Raising, 2025

Who among us has never been a stranger? Who has never needed a helping hand? The Center for New Americans helps recent arrivals to adapt to their new lives and become a part of our local community. Please join me in supporting them this November, as I write a poem a day in honor of their good work! This literary fundraiser supports free English classes and other much-needed supports for immigrants, refugees, migrants, and asylum-seekers here in the Pioneer Valley. Your donations make an outsized impact, and I hope you’ll lend your support!

HONOR ROLL
[Stop]

If there was ever a moment in America to stand up for immigrants, the diversity of our communities, and artistic and intellectual pursuits, surely that time is now! Your generous support can help bridge the gap where federal funding is no longer available for the good work being done by CNAM. Plus, donors will receive an original poem by yours truly, right in their inbox! My great-grandparents followed their dream of a better life from Poland through Ellis Island in the early 20th century, and here I stand a hundred years later with a degree from Smith College and poems published in a variety of journals, ready to celebrate their courage and hard work and lend a hand to the next group of people looking for their own better lives. Please join me.
