Dear Friends, November is coming up on us quickly, and you know what that means. It's time for me to write 30 poems, and time for you to dig deep and support both me in the writing and the Center for New Americans as they continue their phenomenal work of welcoming newcomers to our land, particularly, this year, displaced people from Afghanistan, also from Haiti and Guatemala. Imagine being forced to move to another country where you do not speak the language, and have no guarantee of a home or a way to support yourself. The Center for New Americans helps immigrants meet all those needs. But they need your support and mine. I believe in the value of the work they do and hope that you will show your support, too, by donating if you can, and as much as you are able. I will begin writing Monday, November 1st, and I invite you to join me in my effort to support this organization. Throughout the month, I will give you updates on my progress.
