Since 2009, I have joined with other writers in this unique fund raising effort -- it's easy to understand the purpose of Center for New American's work. All you have to do is imagine yourself without citizenship, without English language, without job-seeking skills, with a limited network of friends, family or acquaintences available with practical help. These are the needs that CNAM works to fulfill. For me, to concentrate on the study and craft of poetry intensively for the month of November is an important learning experience. Call it a festival, sometimes hard, often fun, with the knowledge that many other people all around us are working in their own way.
