Lifting Up Immigrant Voices: In Memory of Jane

Center for New Americans mourns the passing of Jane Yolen, a local legend. In addition to writing prolifically and publishing 450 much loved books, Jane used her literary gifts to support immigrants, raising vital funds and awareness through 30 Poems in November!, and elevating immigrant journeys in the book Straw Bag, Tin Box, Cloth Suitcase: Three Immigrant Voices, which includes the story of Raquel, a Center for New Americans alumna from El Salvador. This recent piece in the Daily Hampshire Gazette highlights Jane Yolen’s legacy.
