The PROTECT Act is now law

On August 5, 2026, Governor Healey signed the Protect Act into law, giving Massachusetts the country’s strongest protections against ICE. Center for New Americans’ W. Mass delegation, the MIRA Coalition, and many immigrants and immigrant service providers advocated for this bill for over a year, and for some of the provisions in the bill for many years.
